Ellis Martin

May 7, 2012 Ellis Ray Martin passed away on May 1, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 10 days. He was born on November 21, 1946 in Checotah, OK to Luther Ellis Martin and Irlen E. (Phillips) Martin. Ellis had a brilliant mind, especially in the field of science, and he shared that with others by teaching. He taught science at different schools in Tulsa throughout his life and was also the sponsor of many school based clubs. Ellis' knowledge and selflessness allowed him to be an inspiration to the students he taught. His other passion was fishing. Ellis was an amazing bass fisherman and also enjoyed hunting, golfing and boating. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Irlen Martin. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Ruiz Martin, whom he married on May 14, 2006 in Sand Springs, OK. Ellis is also survived by his children, Kristi Taylor and husband Ken, Dustin Martin, Jeffrey Gunther and wife Darlin and Kevin Guther; grandchildren, Courtney Shoemake, Erin Martin, Hannah Martin, Chrystal Gunther, Matthew Taylor and Amy Taylor; great grandchild, Reed Taylor; sister, Susie Ferguson and husband Richard; brother, Luther Martin and wife Judy; nieces, Tonya Colburn and husband Jonathon, and Suzanne Brooks and husband Todd; nephew, Mickey Martin and wife Kelly; and numerous other family members, friends and fishing buddies. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Kennedy-Kennard. www.kennedycares.com
