Larry passed away Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 77 years old.
Born January 31st, 1941 in Cherryvale, Kansas, Larry was the son of Chester E. Sr. and Gertrude R. (Swank) Henson. He loved fast cars, particularly drag racing during his youth. He also played baseball and was known to be quite the left fielder. Larry graduated from Cherryvale High School with the Class of 1959. Larry met Roberta while walking near the rail road tracks in Cherryvale, Kansas. A year later, coincidentally, they were introduced and Larry courted her until taking her hand in marriage June 11, 1999 at a minister's home in Cherryvale. He absolutely swept Roberta off of her feet. She loved the way that he treated everybody, with the utmost respect. Larry loved walking the streets of Cherryvale where he frequently visited all of the local shops. He spent countless hours with his granddaughter, Ursula, who named him "Pepa Joe." Larry and Roberta loved watching western movies together, particularly John Wayne films. He loved dining out and going to church. Surviving family members include his wife, Roberta Henson; his daughter, Debra Myles and her husband, Vern; his son Kenneth Henson; his grandchildren: Mathew, Myles, and Christina Myles; and Alexis and Rylyn Winebrenner; and Ursula Henson; and his brother, Chet Henson.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Pat Henson.
