October 17, 2014 Lonnie Joyce McMillan of Catoosa, entered Heaven's gates on October 14, 2014 after complications from hip surgery at the age of 86. She was born in Piedmont, Oklahoma on September 12, 1928 to J.E. Blankenship and Celia M Major.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Joyce was the matriarch of the family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also loved to sew.
Joyce had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous events.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert McMillan. She was also preceded by her brother, Kenneth. Joyce is survived by her children: Tony McMillan and his wife Marla and Althea Minshall and her husband Michael of Catoosa; grandchildren: Terry McMillan and wife LeAnn of Salado, TX, Tina Nevel and husband Tim of Catoosa and Tiffany Falls and husband John of Coweta; great grandchildren: Taylor and Madison McMillan, Colten and Chase Nevel, and Dusty, Cortney, Madison and Owen. She is also survived by her brothers: Dewey Blankenship and Donald Blankenship and wife Helen of Catoosa.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Kennedy-Kennard Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church with interment at Timber Ridge Cemetery in Catoosa, OK.
