Mary Burgess

April 24, 2014 Mary Ellen "Mae" Burgess was born February 8, 1937 to Clarence and Maggie Burgess in Choteau, Oklahoma. Mae attended Vinita Public Schools as a child and in 1948 she moved to Bartlesville, OK. She went on to attend and graduate from Douglass School in 1956. Mae became employed at the Westside Community Center until her retirement in 1979. She was also a homemaker for several families throughout the community. Mae accepted Christ and was a member at Bethel AME Church in Bartlesville, OK. Mae was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She always put others before herself. Mae loved watching sports with her grandkids. She also enjoyed playing poker on her hand held game and taking rides with her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Carlene and Linda Burgess both of Bartlesville, OK; one daughter in law: Rose Burgess (Carlos) of Ponca City, OK; two sisters: Corrine Chambers (Harland) of Bartlesville, OK and Sarah Lee Jefferson (Jeff) of Lawton, OK; one brother: William Burgess Sr. (Verna) of Bartlesville, OK; five grandchildren: Shanton Alberty of Muskogee, OK, LaRon Burgess and Carleya Alberty both of Bartlesville, OK, Mirakle and Omarion "OB" Burgess of Ponca City, OK; one great grandson: Stephen "Trey" Wilkinson of Bartlesville, OK and a host of relatives, loved ones, and friends. Services: 1:30PM, Friday, April 25, Greater First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, OK Kennedy-Midtown Funeral and Cremation
