July 18, 2013 Shirley McNeil was born June 19, 1945, in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Easter Mae Cook and Samuel Paul Burnett. She departed this life into her eternal life, on July 5, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 68. Shirley spent her early years in Wilburton, Oklahoma but later moved to McAlester, Oklahoma. It was there she dedicated herself to the lord, and became an active member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. She also attended L'Overture High School, where she graduated in 1964. In 1966, Shirley moved to Tulia, Texas, where she married Jessie L. McNeil and they relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma until the early 70's. At that time, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she became a CNA in the medical field. She resided in Chicago until January 2013, when she decided to move back to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she resided at the time of her passing. She was an active member of His Touch Fellowship at the time when she went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Shirley had a love for life, and she never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, & friend. She was loved by many, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, two brothers, Willie & Claude Cook, and two sisters, Betty & Cynthia Cook.She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Sheila Burnett & Delbert "Tony" (Tonya) McNeil of Tulsa, OK, and CaSandra Jones of Chicago, IL Four granddaughters, Betty Burnett of Tulsa, OK, Anayah Jones of Chicago, IL, and Katoria & Ananice Harper of Tulsa, OK. Five grandsons, Edward Burnett & Dyeshon Harper of Tulsa, OK, Delbert "Lil Tony" McNeil and The family of Shirley McNeil wishes to express Josiah & Elijah Jones, Chicago, IL. Three great grandchildren, Share' & Ramero McNeil of Chicago, IL and Jamyra Tate of Tulsa, OK. Two sisters, Donna & Geraldine Cook of Tulsa, OK, three brothers, John (Ruth) Cook, of Wilburton, OK, and Eddie & Harry Cook, of Tulsa, OK. A host of nieces, nephews, friends & extended family.
