Shirley passed away Tuesday morning, August 28, 2018 at her residence east of Catoosa. She was 73 years old. Born January 11, 1945 in Claremore, Shirley was the daughter of Andrew Francis and Mary (Mason) Wilder. She was a very sweet, sometimes mischievous, and happy-go-lucky child which everyone loved to be around. Shirley was very athletic; competitively participating in the basketball, softball, and volleyball programs at Catoosa High School. She graduated with the Class of 1963 and married her first husband, Hugh Blaine Davis in December of 1962.
Shirley pursued a career as a medical assistant with the Doctor's Family Clinic in Tulsa. She was very instrumental in building the practice from the inception on August 1, 1968. She had an extremely welcoming personality and a keen ability to help patients feel comfortable, and consequently better. If you had to receive a shot, you wanted to get it from Shirley. She had a magical way of making it not hurt. Shirley considered their patients to be part of their family. She significantly contributed to the success of Doctor's Family Clinic for over 50 years. Known to be a social butterfly her entire life, Shirley loved to make people laugh and smile. She loved spending time with the "Klownz Around Tulsa Town" organization where she was known as the clown "Daisy Belle." Shirley was also active with the Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron. She always gave special attention to her appearance, by having her hair and nails done and you count on her jewelry matching her outfit. Shirley even appeared to be "done up" when she was wearing her scrubs and was always dressing for the occasion.
Shirley married the love of her life, Dr. Barclay Sappington on Valentine's Day in 2008. In their spare time, she and Doc loved to attend auctions, go antiquing, attend the PBR and Nascar as well as spending time with their families and friends. Whatever they chose to do, they did it together. Doc and Shirley had a very unique relationship. Whether they were at work or play, they were always together and enjoying one and another's company. Shirley will be dearly missed by numerous family and friends who loved her.
