Vernon Jackson

Vernon Orville Jackson, Jr., retired funeral home owner and director, was born December 23, 1944 in Lake Forrest, Illinois. Vernon passed away on April 27, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Tulsa's Nathan Hale High School in 1963. He earned his bachelor's degree from Central State College and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He also earned a doctorate in funeral service education from the National Academy of Mortuary Science. He owned funeral homes and flower shops in Oklahoma, Florida and Texas.
Vernon was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Trinity Episcopal Church and other community organizations.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Vernon and Thelma B Jackson, and his partner, Phil Hensley. He is survived by a host of family and friends and his beloved cat, Major.
A memorial service is set for Monday, May 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 501 S. Cincinnati Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74103. A reception will follow in Trinity's Great Hall.
